In the wake of their 0-0 draw against TP Mazembe on Tuesday, SuperSport United coach Stuart Baxter has expressed disappointment in failing to win.
The English manager led the Tshwane giants in their CAF Confederation Cup tie at Lucas Moripe Stadium, but believes they should have wrapped up the match with a win.
In his last match in charge of the club, Baxter will now prepare to face Orlando Pirates in their Nedbank Cup final in South Africa on Saturday.
This follows his appointment as Bafana Bafana coach to replace axed Shakes Mashaba in May.
“We played against one of the premier clubs on the continent. I was disappointed at the finish that we did not beat them. We were well on top,” said Baxter.
“When we started off [in the Confederation Cup], we were going to places like Liberia and Sudan. We were getting decent results [away from home] and then we were winning at home.
“Now we went there [Lubumbashi] to get a 2-2 draw and we get a draw at home.
“The lads were feeling that we should have knocked them over. It’s a good indicator for the club in general.”
In their next Confed Cup match, United will visit Horoya AC in Guinea, Conakry on July 1 before wrapping up their group stage assignments against CF Mounana in Atteridgeville seven days later.
United sit at number two in Group D with six points behind Horoya who lead with eight points from four rounds of matches.
