ARENDSE RARING TO GO AGAINST SAINT GEORGE IN CHAMPIONS LEAGUE

Ahead of their clash against Ethiopian side Saint George in the CAF Champions League this weekend, Mamelodi Sundowns defender Wayne Arendse says he is ready to play.

The Cape Town-born defender is set to make his return to regular football following an ankle injury he sustained in March.

Arendse wants to wrap up his playing career with the Brazilians after signing a new two-year deal at Chloorkop.

The former Cape Town Santos defender also shared his thoughts on the upcoming 2017/18 Premier Soccer League.

“I want to finish my career at Sundowns. You want to play in the Champions League and for a team that’s competing for the league title every season. That’s where Sundowns is,” said Arendse to the Sowetan.

“Next season we need to be ruthless at home. We had about four games at home in the closing stages of the season and drew most of them. We are going to rectify that.

“I feel strong and can’t wait to play. It’s about being patient because the guys have been doing well, but I am ready to play.”

The African champions are sitting at number two in Group C with five points and will now want to claim a win away in Addis Ababa to boost their chances of reaching the knockout stages.

Addis Ababa Stadium is the venue on Saturday, kicking off at 15:00 (CAT).

Both sides previously played to a 0-0 draw in Tshwane.
