Ivory Coast international Seydou Alan Doumbia says he does not want to create false expectations after signing for Portuguese giants Sporting CP.
This will be the 29-year-old forward’s fourth consecutive loan spell since moving to Italian Serie A giants AS Roma.
“It is an enormous pleasure to join this great club,” Doumbia told the Sporting’s official website.
“I am very happy because I only arrived a few days ago and received a warm reception from everybody.
“I don’t want to create false expectations but I have not come here to spend my holidays,” he said.
“I will prepare myself in the best way during pre-season, and after that we will see.”
Since joining Roma from Russian club CSKA Moscow in 2015, Doumbia has been loaned out to Moscow, English side Newcastle United and Swiss club Basel.
Doumbia remarkably netted 20 goals from 25 Swiss Super League appearances for Basel during the 2016/17 campaign.
