Liverpool are set to step up their pursuit of Naby Keita, with the midfielder also scheduled to meet RB Leipzig management this week over the possibility of a transfer.
Keita is reportedly keen on a move to the Premier League giants, with Liverpool ready to break their transfer record for the second time this European summer in order to sign him.
Jurgen Klopp has already overseen a £37-million transfer to bring Egypt’s Mohamed Salah to Anfield, but Keita will cost almost twice as much, with Leipzig valuing the player at £70-million.
The German manager is returning to Liverpool’s Melwood training base this week and has told the club to accelerate their pursuit of Keita, according to the Times.
The Guinean will meet with Leipzig’s Oliver Mintzlaff and the rest of the management board this week to determine where his future lies.
He has been offered a deal which would see him earn £130,000 a week at Liverpool, though Leipzig will be hesitant to part ways with such a key player ahead of their debut campaign in the UEFA Champions League.
