Birmingham City transfer news: Cheikh Ndoye signs

Birmingham City have former Senegal international midfielder Cheikh Ndoye their third signing of the summer.

The 31-year-old free agent has signed a two-year deal with Blues, keeping him at the club until at least June 2019.

Ndoye, who is considered a late developer, joins from Ligue 1 outfit Angers where he was the club’s captain after their promotion on 2015.

Angers were keen to keep their talismanic powerhouse but his form over the last couple of seasons, including steering Angers to the French Cup final, made him a target for several clubs around Europe.

The 6ft 3ins was a commanding force as a Stéphane Moulin’s men cemented their position in the top flight with ninth and twelfth place finishes.

Born in Senegal he came to France in 2010 to join SAS Épinal in the French third tier.

After a couple of seasons he moved to the Parisian outfit Créteil where he spent three seasons and scored 32 goals in 107 matches.

Two years ago that earned him a move to Angers in the French top flight, where he has made 65 Ligue 1 apperances and bagged 14 goals.

He is currently in Austria with the Blues squad and has made ten appearances for Aliou Cisse’s Senegal team – most recently at the Africa Cup of Nations in January.
