Former Super Eagles Coach, Austin Eguavoen, has advised the senior national team players and officials not to allow the current FIFA ranking released on thursday morning, to distract their focus ahead of the 2018 World Cup qualifier against the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon, Aipsafrica.com reports.
Nigeria moved a step upward from 39th position to a 38th position in the FIFA Coca-Cola World Rankings to boost the Super Eagles’ morale ahead of the crucial 2018 World Cup qualifier holding in Uyo on september 1.
“It is a good thing to hear that Nigeria improved in FIFA ranking, but for me, I will advise that we should be focused and not allow that to distract us,” begins the former Sunshine Stars Coach .
“What helps any country to improve or get good ranking is through good performance by the national teams, and if the Super Eagles can perform well in all their games, definitely, they will improve in the ranking.
“The Super Eagles should work hard and make sure they win the match in Uyo.
