Hong Kong, China ruled the Velodrome at the Ashgabat 2017 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games on Thursday.
After her immaculate gold medal performance in the Individual Sprint on Day 3 of Track Cycling, Lee Wai Sze was the driving force in the women’s Team Sprint on Day 4.
Lee was paired with Li Yin Yin in the qualification and in the final, while Ma Wing Yu took care of first lap duties in the first round.
In the gold medal race versus India, the Hong Kong ladies were slightly behind after Li’s launch in the first lap, but Lee made up for that to hammer home the second lap in 14.319sec for a total time of 34.902 and collect the gold.
The Velodrome will be rocking with the final rounds of three different events on Friday – the men’s Sprint, the women’s Keirin and the men’s Team Pursuit.
The Sprint will start at 18:00 with the medal races for gold and bronze.
Iran’s Mohammad Daneshvar Khorram is the favourite for the victory. He set the best time in the qualifying round, and won gold in the men’s Team Sprint on Monday.
