Fresh from a thrilling CAF Champions League quarter-final second leg encounter against Tunisia’s Esperance, Al Ahly are out to down Etoile Sportive du Sahel in the semis.
The Cairo-based club shocked Esperance in Tunis last weekend, coming from behind to clinch a 2-1 win and will now face another Tunisian giant in the semis this Sunday.
Coach Hossam El-Badry says their fans are pushing them to win the CAF Champions League this year and they will fight to do so.
“Our fantastic fans are demanding that we win the Champions League this year,” said El-Badry.
“They want a ninth star on our shirts and a chance to compete against the best at the FIFA Club World Cup.
“Our target is winning the Champions League this year – nothing less.”
The two African giants have previously clashed twice in the Champions League finals with Ahly winning 3-0 in 2005 and Sahel turning the tables two years later with a stunning 3-1 victory.
