The Nigeria Basketball Federation will be meeting with stakeholders on the 16th and 18th of May as part of activities to start the 2018 basketball league season in Nigeria,
The annual stakeholders meeting which traditionally heralds the league season in Nigeria will hold in Lagos on Wednesday, 16th and Abuja on Friday, 18th of May.
A letter sent to all stakeholders by the Secretariat of the NBBF states that the meeting for the Atlantic conference will hold at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium, Lagos while NIS Hostel, Package B of the National Stadium will host the conveners in Abuja.
Explaining reasons behind the federation’s decision to adopt a new format, the NBBF President, Engr. Musa Kida said, “Our latest decision to meet with stakeholders in groups is as a result of the time frame between when we communicated to them and the time for the meeting. We also thought it wise that for better impact and result oriented interactions with our stakeholders, there was a need to meet in small groups.
Kida opined that with his over 30 years experience in the corporate world, better effects and results are achieved if people are related with directly.
“In the basketball circle, we are familiar with gathering people in Abuja every year. At the end of the whole event, we all go home the same with many people using the opportunity to just socialize with friends they have not seen in the last one year.”
“This time around, we are taking a different approach by dividing the meeting into 2 groups. Lagos Centre will be for South West, South South and South East zones while stakeholders from the North Central, North West and North East will converge on Abuja on the 18th.”
Registration and tip off dates for National Division 1 and 2 as well as the Zenith Women’s League and the Men Premier leagues are expected to be announced during the event.
