CAA Asaba 2018 Day 2: Debutantes struck Gold For Nigeria in Medal Rush

First time winners led the line as team Nigeria won 4 medals in day 2 of the CAA African Athletics Championship Asaba 2018.

Tobiloba Amusan started the medal rush for the host country with a gold medal in the women’s 100m hurdles with a time of 12.86m and famous now famous dance routine (shaku shaku) got the crowd at the Stephen Keshi stadium, Asaba celebrating the blisterin win.

Chukwuebuka Enekwechi added his first ever CAA African Athletics gold in the men’s shot put event with the best throw distance of 21.08m in his fifth attempt beating Egypt’s Mohammed Khalifa (19.33m) into second position.

Another debutant Temilola Ogunrinde was part of the silver medalists for team Nigeria after she threw a distance of 67.39m in her 4th attempt, few meters behind gold medalist Zakour Soukaina of Morocco’s 68.28m throw.

the star of the day for team Nigeria, Joy Udo Gabriel won bronze clocking 11.58 in the women’s 100m final event in a race controlled and won defending champion, Marie Ta Lou of Cote D’Ivoire in a time of 11.15.

Udo Gabriel atteding her firs African senior championships was excited her debut medal win.

Adeseye Ogunlewe fell short of glory in the men’s 100m after he finished 5th clocking 10.45 in the race under the total control of South African sprinters.

South Africa’s Akani Simbine won gold in a time of 10.25, followed Arthur Cisse of Cote D’Ivoire (10.33) in second position and another South African, Simon Magakwe in third (10.35).
