Burundi organizes the 1st edition 2018 games competition in the different disciplines since Thursday, August 16, 2018.
The ceremonies of solemn opening took place this Thursday, August 16, 2018 at the SOS High School grounds under the theme “Promoting integration and peace within the East African Community through sport”
Four countries participate in this competition it is Burundi host country, Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania. Rwanda and South Sudan did not respond to the invitation.
At the organizational level, Burundian teams are experiencing difficulties related to the lack of financial means to perform the training as reported by the players and coaches, “No travel expenses, no recovery after training”.
Sunday at the parade ground, the women’s volleyball team lost to Ugandans 3-0 (25-12, 25-13 and 25-10).
In Karate Burundi ranked first in the individual kata by winning the first 3 medals:
1. Niyubahwe Franck gold medal
2. Ntiruseseka Hervé silver medal
3. Mukeshimana Shining Bronze Medal
At the Kata team level, Burundi also took first place in the gold medal plus the cup, Kenya was second with the silver medal and third place went to Tanzania.
The competition continues even in other disciplines such as the Net ball, judo and will end on August 30, 2018.
