Panamanian league sells media and sponsorship rights for $7.6m
The top-tier football league in Panama has agreed media and sponsorship deals covering the next four years for a total of $7.6m (€6.6m).

The critica.com.pa website reported that the Panamanian football federation (Fepafut) has agreed media and sponsorship rights deals for the Panamanian top-tier, the Liga Panameña de Fútbol. Both deals will run for four years, from 2019 to 2022, and will be worth a combined average of $1.9m per year.

The federation struck a deal for the league’s media rights with broadcaster TVN and media company Medcom, which will be worth $1.2m per year.

Fepafut also struck a sponsorship deal with telco Cable Onda, which will be worth $700,000 per year. The deal covers operational expenses of the league such as security, ambulances and ballboys. Cable Onda has been the main sponsor of the LPF since 2014 .

Fepafut vice president Ramón Cardoze said the federation had sought $1.6m per year for its media rights but that the incumbent broadcasters had wanted to maintain their fee at about $800,000 per year “due to the economic situation of the country
