COLONIA DE SACRAMENTO, November 21, 2018 – Korea Republic had to wait for their last game to earn a first point, after a 1-1 draw with Colombia, in Group D at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.

An early penalty even put them ahead. Garam Chun ran down the left side and was fouled inside the box. Mijin Cho converted the kick.

Colombia produced the majority of chances in the first half with midfielder Maria Reyes the focal point of their attack but had to wait until the second half for their own breakthrough.

Just before and shortly after half-time Royeong Gwak tried in vain to threaten Colombia’s goal.

Colombia had needed to win to have any hope of reaching the quarter-finals but were foiled by the excellent saves of Korea Republic goalkeeper Sujeong Kim.

However in the 89th minute defender Eunyoung Lee was sent off after a second yellow card and Colombia capitalised on their numerical superiority to equalise one minute into stoppage time through forward Gisela Robledo
