CAIRO, March 5, 2019 – The Egyptian Sports Press Association has a new Executive Board which will serve in office until 2021.
HUGE PARTICIPATION The elections took place on January 2 at the headquarters of the Egyptian Press Syndicate in Cairo. Unlike previous years, this term’s elections saw a huge participation from members of ESPA with more than 400 journalists taking part.
ACTION Following the elections, the new eight-man executive board has swung into action by meeting with top Egyptian sports officials at the sports ministry, Olympic Committee, clubs and sports federations. President of ESPA, Hassan Khalafala said that it was important to meet with sports officials in order to discuss maintaining the symbiotic relationship between sports media and sports federations as well as considering new means of improving the working conditions for media.
AFCON 2019 ESPA President Khalafalla said: “With Egypt now hosting the Africa Cup of Nations next summer, ESPA will be working closely with the organisers to ensure that both local and international media would have the best working conditions during the one month event which will enable them to have a smooth coverage of Africa’s most prestigious sports event.”
