MONTREAL, May 2, 2019 – The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) is pleased to announce media activities surrounding the Agency’s Foundation Board (Board) meeting that will be held on 16 May 2019 in Montreal, Canada.
1. EVENT CELEBRATING WADA’S HOSTING AGREEMENT WITH MONTREAL INTERNATIONAL
In order to celebrate the extension of WADA’s hosting agreement with Montreal International through 2031, the Agency is hosting a cocktail for its Board and Executive Committee members and invited guests, on 15 May at 18:00 EDT at:

The cocktail, which will be hosted by WADA President, Sir Craig Reedie and WADA Director General, Olivier Niggli, will open at 18:00 with an approximate half-hour media event, which will include remarks from the hosts and the following invited dignitaries from the federal, provincial and municipal governments, along with Montreal International:
- The Honorable Marc Garneau – Minister of Transport, Government of Canada
- Ms. Isabelle Charest – Minister of Sport and Minister Responsible for the Status of Women, Government of Quebec
- Ms. Valérie Plante – Mayor of the Ville de Montréal (City of Montreal)
- Mr. Hubert Bolduc – President and Chief Executive Officer, Montreal International
2. FOUNDATION BOARD MEETING
WADA’s Board Meeting will be held on 16 May 2019 from 08:30 to approximately 16:00 EDT at the following location; and, the full-day event will be open to the media as per WADA’s statutes.

The Board meeting, which will be chaired by WADA’s President, Sir Craig Reedie, will open with WADA’s Director General, Olivier Niggli, delivering an update on a range of matters, including the outcomes from the ExCo meeting that will have been held the previous day.
The Board meeting will then consider an update on the implementation of WADA’s governance reforms approved in November 2018; and, will receive the latest news regarding the World Anti-Doping Code (Code) and International Standards Review. This will be followed by a report from the Chair of WADA’s independent Compliance Review Committee regarding compliance by Code Signatories; and, progress made in Russia vis-à-vis the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) database authentication process and retrieval of the samples from the Moscow Laboratory.
The meeting will hear additional updates, including from WADA’s Standing Committee Chairs – namely, Athlete; Finance; Health, Medical and Research; and Education – as well as Management updates regarding a range of WADA activities.
Seating will be reserved inside the room for working members of the media who wish to attend.
No audio or videotaping of the meeting is permitted. Photographers and camera operators will be allowed in the room for five minutes just prior to the start of the meeting in order to take set-up shots.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Sir Craig Reedie and Olivier Niggli will hold a media conference providing members of the media with the opportunity to discuss the meeting’s outcomes and other anti-doping-related matters.
WADA’s 38-member Board is composed equally of representatives from the Olympic Movement and Governments. The Agency’s 12-member ExCo, which is composed similarly, will hold a meeting on 15 May that is not open to the media.
